Where Can You Find Vintage Prints Of French Wine Regions?

With Christmas coming up and some people having birthdays at the back end of the year, which requires an extra present, thinking of all the things people would like to receive can’t be easy. That is why a vintage framed print can offer a novel alternative.

This is still true for wine lovers. You might imagine that a bottle of their favourite tipple will do the trick, but that is not the only thing you can get them. If you want to get a gift that a true connoisseur will love, how about a vintage print of one of the French wine regions?

We have a series of prints available that will provide any viticulture vulture with an authentic and historic gift that will look superb on their wall. The print itself will provide a classical depiction of the region, encased in Tuscan red and straw linen and placed in a mahogany frame.

What Are The Main French Wine Regions?

France has several great wine regions, which means lots of great wine and also a fine selection of prints for you to choose from, although, of course, you may know exactly which region is the gift recipient’s favourite.

The great French wine regions for which we can offer prints include the following:

·       Champagne - famous for the eponymous fizzy white wine, with the name being formerly protected to distinguish it from similar products originating elsewhere. The region lies in the north-east of France.

·       Burgundy - Famous for wines like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, this region is in the east of the country and consists of five sub-regions.

·       Cognac - This famous brandy is grown in the south-west, close to Bordeaux. It is divided into six sub-regions.

·       Rhone - Subdivided into the North Rhone and South Rhone sub-regions, featuring reds made with the Syrah grape and whites with the Marsanne and Roussanne grapes.

·       St Emilion and Pomerol - This south-western area is famous for its fruity red wines.

·       Graves and Sauternes - the birthplace of claret and the home of Bordeaux wines, this region is also famous for its sweet whites.

What Makes A Vintage Print So Appealing?

Visiting these regions can be a wonderful way for wine fanatics to enjoy a holiday, while wine lovers will always enjoy a glass of the finest vintage from these places. They remain the most prolific and celebrated wine producers in the world; in 2024, France accounted for 32.5 per cent of global wine exports by value.

However, these are somewhat internalised joys; unless one has shared in those visits or regularly partakes of the same wines, knowledge of them can seem somewhat esoteric.

However, historic prints can help to bridge the gap, giving wine novice visitors to the home of anyone with the print hanging on their wall an insight into these regions, enabling them to connect names and places they only have a vague knowledge of, and potentially opening up a new world.

For the Connoisseur, of course, it is all much more straightforward. A vintage print speaks of the history and heritage that characterise these regions, steeped in centuries of history that still give them an exalted status over and above that of the challengers from the Cape, Barossa Valley or any other ‘new world’ wine region.
